Using our service
Terms and cancellations
These terms explain how enquiries, lessons, payments, cancellations and referrals work with Aptum Tutors.
Last updated: 19 September 2026
Your first lesson is free, with no commitment to continue. We will agree the tutor, price and arrangements with you before booking any further lesson. Nothing renews or is charged automatically.
About these terms
Aptum Tutors is operated by Vansch Agrawal. These terms apply when a parent or carer arranges tutoring through Aptum Tutors. By confirming a lesson, you agree to these terms and any lesson-specific details supplied to you in writing. The person making the booking must be at least 18 and authorised to arrange tutoring for the student.
Contact us at hello@aptumtutors.com or +44 7493 017655 if anything is unclear before confirming a booking.
The free first lesson
The student’s first lesson with Aptum is free. It is a normal tutoring lesson and an opportunity for the student and tutor to see whether the match feels right. There is no obligation to continue, and we will not book or charge for another lesson without your agreement.
If the first tutor is not the right match, contact us. We will discuss the next step with you, but an additional free lesson is not automatic.
Further lessons and prices
Before any further lesson is booked, we will tell you the price and confirm the arrangement. A booking is made only when you accept those details. Unless we expressly agree otherwise, lessons are booked individually and there is no subscription or automatic renewal.
Any advertised discount applies only where its stated conditions are met. We will explain the amount and duration of a discount before the relevant booking.
Lesson arrangements
Lessons take place online using the platform and joining details agreed with you. You are responsible for providing a suitable device, internet connection and appropriate place for the student to learn. Please join promptly and let us know as soon as possible if a technical problem prevents the lesson.
The parent or carer remains responsible for the student’s welfare and supervision. Please also read our safeguarding policy.
Changing or cancelling a lesson
Please tell us as early as possible if you need to change or cancel a lesson. Any lesson-specific notice period or cancellation charge will be explained and agreed with you before that lesson is booked. We will not apply a cancellation charge that was not disclosed beforehand.
If Aptum or the tutor cancels a paid lesson, you may choose a replacement lesson or receive a refund of the amount paid for that lesson. We may pause or end an arrangement where continuing would be unsafe or unlawful, or after serious or repeated behaviour that prevents lessons from proceeding, such as abuse, threats, harassment, discrimination or repeated material breaches of these terms. Where it is reasonable and safe to do so, we will explain the problem and allow an opportunity to resolve it before ending the arrangement. We will refund any prepaid lesson that will not be supplied, except to the extent the law fairly allows a deduction for a loss directly caused by a breach.
Your legal cancellation rights
Where UK consumer law gives you a 14-day right to cancel a service contract arranged at a distance, you may cancel by emailing us a clear statement at hello@aptumtutors.com. You may use the words: “I give notice that I cancel my tutoring service contract,” followed by your name, address and the date.
If you expressly ask us to begin paid services during that 14-day period, you may need to pay a proportionate amount for services supplied before you cancel. If the service has been completed in full after your express request and acknowledgement, the statutory cancellation right may end. These terms do not reduce any rights you have under consumer law.
Payments and refunds
We will explain how and when payment is due before a paid lesson is booked. You are responsible for providing accurate billing information and paying an agreed amount when due. Where a refund is owed, it will normally be returned using the original payment method within a reasonable period.
Tutors and learning outcomes
We interview and select tutors and match them using the information you provide. We aim to offer high-quality support, but academic progress also depends on factors outside our control. We cannot guarantee a particular grade, examination result, school place or outcome.
Please tell us promptly if you have a concern about a tutor, lesson or match so that we can respond.
Conduct and acceptable use
Students, parents, carers and tutors must communicate respectfully and must not use lessons or contact details for unlawful, abusive, discriminatory or inappropriate purposes. Lesson materials remain the property of their respective owners and must not be copied or distributed without permission.
No participant may record a lesson without prior agreement from Aptum and the informed consent of everyone involved, including the parent or carer where the student is under 18.
Referrals
A referred student receives one free first lesson and, if they continue, 10% off each of their next three lessons. When three students referred by the same person continue after their free lesson, the referrer receives £50.
There is one qualifying referral per household. Existing Aptum households and self-referrals do not qualify. The receiving family must include the referrer’s email in its enquiry so we can identify the referral. We may withhold a reward where information is false, duplicated or used to abuse the offer, but we will act reasonably and explain our decision.
Personal information
We handle personal information as described in our privacy notice. Please provide accurate information and avoid sending sensitive information unless we have agreed an appropriate way to handle it.
Problems and complaints
If something goes wrong, contact hello@aptumtutors.com with the student’s name and a description of the issue. We will review it and aim to respond fairly.
Aptum Tutors is not currently required to participate in, and has not committed to use, a particular alternative dispute resolution scheme. If a complaint cannot be resolved, we will provide any dispute-resolution information that the law requires at that stage. Consumers can also seek independent guidance from the Citizens Advice consumer service.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded or limits your statutory consumer rights.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms for future bookings. The terms supplied or available when a booking is agreed will apply to that booking unless a change is required by law or you agree otherwise.
